Familiarity Breeds Contempt story
Taken from one of Aesop’s Fables:
When the Fox first saw the Lion, he was terribly frightened, and ran away and hid in the woods. The next time he came near the Lion, he stopped at a safe distance and watched him pass by. The third time they came near one another the Fox fearlessly approached the Lion and passed the time of day with him exchanging pleasantries and asked when he should have the pleasure of seeing him again, then he parted from the Lion without much ceremony.
This can be interpreted in many ways with todays experiences, something being so close to you that you don’t respect it or making yourself comfortable with a fear to respect it and overcome it.
Don’t overlook the obvious. Some things are right in front of you, but it’s so familiar to you, that you don’t respect it.
